Shop - Rare Automotive

Zach Robinson

I noticed problems with my truck ('95 F150) and just happened to pull over on the road that led to Tex and his shop. I saw their shop on the map, so I drove a half mile and pulled into their drive. They immediately looked at my truck and diagnosed the problem. They drove me to a hotel in town while they waited to get the parts when the store opened the next day. The next day they picked me up from town and had everything ready to go. They found additional problems and had them fixed. Tex properly diagnosed a problem created by the previous mechanic simply by listening to what I told him about the problem and what the previous mechanic had done. Out of curiosity, I got the opinion of an urban shop (they actually inspected the truck) and they wanted $3,500 to replace the fuel injectors, which were absolutely not the problem. Thanks to Tex, I was able to fix the additional problem myself in 20 minutes after ordering the $70 part. This backyard shop is probably the best shop you can find, if you can find it. As a traveling horseman that has seen a lifetime's worth of vehicle troubles, I stand by Tex and his shop.

While passing through Prattsville AL my class c , diesel motorhome developed engine problems on I 65. I was lucky enough to get towed to Rare automotive. They were nice enough to open their yard and allow us to dry camp there, until they opened next day. The owner, Rex is a diesel guru, after talking to him i knew i was in the right place. His crew members, Jared and Austin teamed up with Tex to solve my problem. This is a family business that treats you fair, highly recommended

I blew a spark plug out of the motor on 82 and even though he was busy he was able to get the old 4Runner fixed within a couple days. He was very honest and real. Haven't had anymore problems and it runs as smooth as ever. Thanks!

These guys know vehicles of all kinds. I was referred to Rare Automotive by a big diesel shop in town, so I took my 06 Ford 6.0 here to be bulletproofed. Very fair on pricing, they do quality work visually you can tell they put everything back as it was and a lot of work was done every bolt or snap was placed back as from the factory. You can see they take pride in their work. Also very informative on how to care for the vehicle after upgrades were made on how to keep your vehicle running for the long haul. From now on all of my vehicle needs, I will be taking them to Rare automotive. Couldn’t be happier with the work they did.
